SEPTEMBER 2006

Hi Folks   this is BRUCE

At a meeting of John, Colin, Lindsay, Bernard and myself on 28th March, with apologies from Carline, Leslie and Brian to discuss the feasibility of producing a YELLOW letter which would invite everyone to a Murchison Goldfields Safari in September 2006, it was decided to produce the said document.

The YELLOW letter was produced and presented to all present.

Dear Parents

This is a YELLOW letter…….

You are invited to participate in

WALLISTON      SAFARI

SEPTEMBER 2006

??  ??  ??     OTHER PARTICIPANTS    ??  ??  ??

Bruce   CAMERON

P.S.  Why Not.

Invitation

The YELLOW letter invited all the above mentioned to participate in a Murchison Goldfields Safari in September 2006.

ITINERARY

A suggested itinery for the trip is

1st  Night Saturday 2nd September  WARROAN HILL

2ND Night Sunday 3rd September WOOLGERONG ROCK

3rd Night Monday 4th September WALLOO HILL

4th Night Tuesday 5th September CLAYPAN LAKE

People may wish to be in this area before and after these dates but we hope that a “core” group of campers to be at these chosen campsites.

Yes we know that 3rd September is FATHERS DAY

OTHER PARTICIPANTS

It was agreed by the meeting that a large group of campers would not be desirable, but members may wish to invite a close friend or two. For this to happen it has been suggested that

expressions of interest for an invitation”

be put to a future meeting.

Apart from the obvious reasons for not having too large a camping party to move daily. With a small to medium sized group we believe that we will be favorably received at the station campsites proposed. We do intend to ask the station owners permission to camp as before.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Email is to be the chosen form of communication (fax to Brian as he does not have an email address).

Another meeting of the group is to be convened, probably in early May (coffee is good at the Merchant).

By this time we may have some “expressions of interest for an invitation”

and some further comment about the proposed itinery.

Bernard said he would supply station contact details to the writer.

Questions: Please contact me anytime.

SEPTEMBER 2006

Hi Folks.  This is BRUCE  again

Another successful coffee meeting at the Merchant graced with the presence of three ladies Carline, Joan and Leslie (in order of arrival)

Others present were John, Bernard and Lindsay.

ITINERARY            NO CHANGE    (see below)

A suggested itinerary for the trip is

1st  Night Saturday 2nd September  WARROAN HILL

2ND Night Sunday 3rd September WOOLGERONG ROCK

3rd Night Monday 4th September WALLOO HILL

4th Night Tuesday 5th September CLAYPAN LAKE

People may wish to be in this area before and after these dates but we hope that a “core” group of campers to be at these chosen campsites.

It is proposed to meet for “morning tea” between 10.00-10.30 Saturday 2nd at Boogardie Station Homestead. This will mean for most people traveling to at least Paynes Find, on Friday 1st September if coming direct from Perth.  After meeting with the Jones, this will allow plenty of time to travel to “THE ROCK” (mow the lawn) and set up camp, ready to watch the sun set whilst sitting on the rock. Drink of your choice in hand.

PARTICIPANTS

At the meeting on 13th June at the Merchant, participation in Walliston Safari   2006 was to be: Bruce, John A, Bernard, Dennis & shovel, Lindsay & Joan.

OTHER PARTICIPANTS

I am pleased to report that we have “expressions of interest  for an invitation”  from several people.

Dennis’s father – in - law being Carline’s father Keith would like to come. He has his own vehicle.

John & Cheryl Krokosz, friends of Leonie and I, also good friends of the Lyons families, Rod & Tammy, Kim & Janet, Robin & Carol. ? They also have their own vehicle.

We are pleased to advise the above mentioned people that your  “expressions of interest  for an invitation”  have been successful.

This, previous and future correspondence will be forwarded to you all.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Email is to be the chosen form of communication (mail to Brian as he does not have an email address).

Another meeting of the group is to be convened, if required. (Coffee is still good at the Merchant).

Bernard said he would supply station contact details to the writer. Supplied - thank you. Contact will be made 4-5 weeks prior to departure.

SHOWERS

  • Bring your own.
  • Mt Magnet - Bernard to check on availability at roadhouse, on the way into Mt Magnet from the north when coming back from Broome in August. For possible use Saturday morning 2nd  September.
  • Coodardy – Bruce to check with Morrie – on our way to Walloo Hill.
  • Cue – caravan park or new ones at oval - Bruce to check.

  • Driver to be seated behind steering wheel (driver’s seat) when vehicle is in motion.
  • Passengers to be seated in other vacant seats while vehicle is in motion.

NEWSLETTER  1

Hi Folks   this is BRUCE….again

Hey it is less than four weeks till we leave for the mighty Murchison outback.

Can’t wait …how about you?

Well ..I spoke to David at Boogardie Station the other night …it was just after 8.00pm and it sounded like some action in the background so I said I wouldn’t keep him as it sounded like he was having dinner, no he said just having a can of beer as it was the first day of shearing.

“”   A picture came to mind …scruffy hair…3 day beard …darrie in corner of mouth … ruffled long sleeved shirt ..well worn jeans …socks –with obligatory holes. Oh I forgot a grin from ear to ear, and I still couldn’t understand what he said.””          But we are definitely welcome to visit, told him of our expected arrival time and that I would ring again in a couple of weeks. Henry and Jossie were in Perth but expected back any day. Wildflowers …oh well it was a good idea….but I guess there is still time.

The Glen …bring your water skies ..bathers, flippers, snorkel ..fishing gear …the lake is FULL. Spoke with Kerrie and she said we are most welcome to camp at Walloo Hill and Claypan Lake …. also shower at Coodardie. Again not to sure about the wildflowers.

OTHER NEWS:

Heard a whisper that Lindsay and Joan are bringing a “mobile HYATT”  (off-road camper)  I suppose that the rest of us tenters may get an invitation to drinks one night …if we behave ourselves!!

Bernard and Kay are slumming it in Broome at the moment. Go to  www.broomecam.com/camera.htm to see how tough it is at

Cable Beach ..this picture refreshes every 10 seconds.

John and Cheryl Krokosz have had a practice holiday on the beach just north of       Carnarvon. Fishing ..food ..beer & wine ..what a life.

Those of you that don’t get an honorable mention in this newsletter be careful if you get a call you on the phone from me about “something” as you may find yourself in the next newsletter.

???   FOOD … what to bring.   I will have some discussions with “ those who know”  …more next time.

I have it on good authority that PAPPA LUIGI is to be for supper one night. Bring an extra piece of meat-steak.. etc.

Last Night    do we travel from Walloo Hill across the “ back way” and look at Clay Pan Lake ..then down to The Glen Homestead and move on to about Paynes Find …about 300 kms for the day. Leaving 420 for the last day coming down the back way through Remlap. OR take an extra day to come home!!!

I am checking with the Stations this evening.

OTHER NEWS

Bernard is back from Broome …in less than 24 hours he had emptied his land cruiser and repacked for Walliston Safari… “keen as” ….I think a new nickname is in order …MUSTARD… “sir” doesn’t seem to fit anymore.

Heard from Brian Crombie the other night …glass of wine in hand..he is holed up in Kununarra..the grass has grown up around his caravan wheels and needs to get it cut before he can leave.

Showers are good at the road house in Mt Magnet.

Dennis.. are you bringing a good bottle of wine and the long handled shovel.

If the wine is no good we can “ put it down” ..i.e bury it with the shovel and see if it is any better next year!!

Can’t wait to sit and watch the sunset at Warroan.
